Captain Jamie McNamara

Jamie recently joined the American P&I Club as a Claims Executive for the 105 year old only mutual Protection and Indemnity Club domiciled in the United States. In this capacity he can bring his years of various shipping experience to help defend members from claims.

Previously he was the Health Safety Quality Environmental (HSQE) Manager and Alternate Designated Person Ashore (DPA) for McAllister Towing. Jamie began working for McAllister in March of 2021 after working for over 5 years as Safety Compliance Manager for Jones Act petroleum and chemical tanker company US Shipping Corp. Before working in compliance, Jamie worked for 4 years in vessel operations for dry bulk operators Eagle Bulk Shipping Inc. and GENCO Shipping and Trading. Prior to his dry bulk time, he worked for 10 years in vessel and terminal operations for container/roro carrier Atlantic Container Line.

Jamie attended SUNY Maritime College where he received a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology and Oceanography with an Environmental Concentration. Jamie sailed aboard car carriers, oil spill response vessels and government vessels coming ashore with an Unlimited Masters License Upon Oceans. He earned a Master’s of Science degree in International Transportation Management in 2002. He is honorably discharged from the USNR. Jamie stays active in the maritime industry as he is on the Alumni Association Board of SUNY Maritime College, Marine Society of the City of NY Standing Committee and a member of the National Cargo Bureau (NCB) and American Bureau of Shipping (ABS).
