Patrick F. Geiger of Tuckerton, New Jersey, graduated from the Texas Maritime Academy in 1984 with a degree in Marine Transportation. He holds a 1600-ton Ocean Masters license and a Second Mates, Oceans unlimited license. Patrick Geiger currently sails as Captain on the coastal tug HAWSEPIPER for Centerline Logistics. A Seattle based company. Captain Geiger has worked in the offshore oil drilling and exploration business on offshore supply boats and seismic survey boats following his graduation from the Texas Maritime Academy. LT. Geiger (USNR-TAR) then served as a surface line officer in the U.S. Navy sailing as C.I.C. officer (Combat Information Officer) and assistant navigator on the USS AYLWIN FF 1081. Following his division officer tour in the Navy, He returned to the oil industry sailing as Master on many different Seismic survey vessels including the G.S.I. MERLION (997 GRT), out of Singapore (Singapore flag). He also sailed as Second Mate on the US Flagged MOBIL SEARCH (3334 GRT) sailing out of Cork Ireland.
Starting in 1993 Captain Geiger began working in NY Harbor. He sailed for 19 years with McAllister Towing of NY. First for the McAllister feeder service, then McAllister of NY, and McAllister Contract Services. While with the feeder service he towed container and deck barges along the east coast, as well as deck barges and covered warehouse barges in the Caribbean. With McAllister of NY, he did general towing and assist work, dredging projects, dead ship tows and salvage tows. On a 2005 salvage tow, he and his crew were awarded the Mary Patten Valiant ship award by the Woman’s Propeller club of NY. With McAllister contract services he worked on the Cape Wind project, a wind turbine project in Nantucket sound.
Following his time at McAllister towing, Captain Geiger worked for Reinauer transportation for 12 years last sailing as Master on the ATB tugs DACE REINAUER, and LUCY REINAUER. Captain Geiger is currently sailing with Centerline Logistics as Master on the tugboat HAWSEPIPER.
Captain Geiger also works part time for VINIK MARINE. Where he does general towing and salvage jobs. One of the most memorable jobs, he sailed as Chief Mate on the tug VINIK 6 while towing the S.S. UNITED STATES from Philadelphia Pennsylvania to Mobile Alabama to prepare her for use as a diving reef.
Patrick Geiger’s Sea Scouting experience started in 1975 with Ship 44 of Clark, NJ, aboard the S.E.S. THUNDERBIRD. A 65 ft Ex- U.S. Army T-boat, at the Linden base. He sailed as a Sea Scout 1975-1980. Today he volunteers as a Mate with Ship 228 of Rahway, Ship 243 also of Rahway, and Ship 117 of Tuckerton. He is a plank owner with Ship 117.
Captain Geiger is married to the former Corinne DiVestia of Red Bank NJ. He has 3 adult children, 4 adult stepchildren, 12 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
